Two NYC doctors, Melissa Gimble and Josh Skinner, hit a crisis point and wake in a town that runs on the rules of mid-century musical theatre, where the locals communicate in plot-driving songs. For Broadway, it reads as a self-aware study of how romance narratives get manufactured. Its NYC run reflects the city’s ongoing traffic between screen storytelling and the stage.
