2 upcoming performances in New York

At David Geffen Hall, the New York Philharmonic opens the season under Gustavo Dudamel with a program framed as a survey of American musical plurality. The centerpiece is a new work by Leilehua Lanzilotti, receiving its first public performance in New York, placed alongside Charles Ives’s Symphony No. 2. Pianist Yunchan Lim joins as the featured soloist. The pairing reads as a pointed curatorial gesture, linking a contemporary voice to an earlier, unruly idea of “American” sound.
