ASSSSCAT NY

ASSSSCAT NY is a long-running improv format presented at UCB Theatre, built from audience suggestions and shaped into a set of loosely linked scenes. The structure borrows from the Upright Citizens Brigade’s training culture, which helped define a generation of New York alternative comedy and fed into television and digital sketch pipelines. Each performance is made in real time, with the cast negotiating tone, character, and narrative onstage. Its significance is practical as much as aesthetic: it functions as a public lab for how contemporary NYC comedy gets written.
