Disney's Broadway musical "Aladdin" at the New Amsterdam Theatre adapts the studio's 1992 animated film with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, and Chad Beguelin. The story follows a street thief in the fictional city of Agrabah who discovers a lamp containing a wish-granting genie and falls for the kingdom's princess. The Broadway production expands on the film with new songs and a larger ensemble, and has run continuously at the New Amsterdam since 2014.
