About Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers
At Guggenheim Exhibitions in New York City, Rashid Johnson presents *A Poem for Deep Thinkers*, an exhibition framed like a lyric argument rather than a single, stable statement. The work draws on Johnson’s ongoing vocabulary of materials and symbols to map interior life alongside social pressure, using repetition and accumulation as structure. In a city where Black artists have long shaped the terms of contemporary practice, the show reads as part of that continuing lineage. One clear effect is its insistence that contemplation can function as a public act.
