About African Ancestors of Egypt and Nubia: From the Green Sahara to the Nile
Now at the Brooklyn Museum, *African Ancestors of Egypt and Nubia: From the Green Sahara to the Nile* traces how African societies shaped the cultures that later flourished along the Nile. The exhibition follows environmental change—from a wetter Sahara to river-based life—and reads artworks and archaeological materials as evidence of migration, trade, and belief. In New York, it adds needed context to long-standing museum narratives that have too often separated Egypt from the rest of Africa. Its clearest argument is historical: geography and identity did not stop at modern borders.
