About Mehanata Bar
Mehanata Bar is a basement music venue and bar on Ludlow Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It opened in 2007 and is known for late-night programming that leans toward Balkan and Eastern European folk, brass, and dance music alongside DJs. The room is small and club-like, with the audience gathered close to the performers rather than separated from them. On many nights it feels less like a showcase than a packed, informal party built around immigrant sounds and downtown nightlife.
