About Classical Theatre of Harlem

Classical Theatre of Harlem is a professional off-Broadway theatre company based in Harlem, Manhattan, with a home base at 645 St. Nicholas Ave. Founded in 1999 at the Harlem School of the Arts, it is the only year-round company in the neighborhood working under an Actors’ Equity Association LORT contract. The season centers on repertory theatre, pairing Greek and other classical texts with newer work, alongside a steady schedule of education programs. Over the years it has mounted more than 40 productions, a record that reads as both artistic practice and civic routine.
